Simplex Obtains ECORESPONSIBLE Level 1 Certification

It is with great excitement that Simplex announces that it has obtained the ECORESPONSIBLETM Level 1 Certification. Recognized internationally, it is audited and issued by the Ecocert control body.

ECORESPONSABLE Certification

Is much more that a logo

it is a process of continuous improvement. Much like in a video game, the certification has four different levels. Level 1, or engagement, is only a first step towards making our business practices accountable.

Preparing for change to build on solid foundations

By granting us Level 1, Ecocert recognizes Simplex's commitment to implementing a culture of continuous improvement in terms of sustainable development. Simply put, this means that our company wants to grow by meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs.

But it is not enough to say “we want to do better”! Our team had to put in place several things to be credible in the eyes of Ecocert and materialize its commitment to the planet. Here is a summary of the steps of our journey:

1. Establish a structured plan to ensure its solidity

In the summer of 2020, the management team made the decision to anchor the future of Simplex in the principles of sustainable development. Several actions with a social and environmental impact had been taken so far, but an overall vision was lacking to create a real synergy between them.

We therefore began the certification process with the consulting agency Ellio to adopt a sustainable development strategy and a structured plan with SMART objectives, so as to generate value for the company in the long term, to mobilize our team and to contribute positively to society.

2. Gather the good people around the drawing board

The management team has also freed up the human and financial resources necessary to show the seriousness of its approach. An eco-responsible committee has been formed so that each component of our action plan is distributed among this multidisciplinary group. It is important to have people responsible for carrying out our sustainability initiatives to ensure that they materialize in real life.

3. Inspect the condition of the machinery to make a diagnosis

To better understand the social and environmental impacts of our activities, we had to take a good look at ourselves. We conducted an organizational life cycle analysis to identify our strengths and weaknesses. This initial diagnosis allows us to identify possible avenues for improvement to address the issues.

In addition to diagnosing the impact of our activities, we took an additional step back to analyze our business model. This additional step aimed to re-examine our methods to make them more sustainable.

4. Know how to handle the hammer before nailing 2x4s

5. Adopt the ECORESPONSIBLETM reflex

During the certification process, Simplex had to develop its corporate vision in relation to sustainable development. For us, a little effort each day can greatly help the planet. This is why we are committed to integrating the principles of sustainable development in all our spheres of activity and to communicate our actions to positively influence other players in the industry.

When a gesture becomes a reflex, it can be a game-changer for our future collective. To affirm loud and clear our commitment, we wrote with our finest pen a sustainable development charter which is now available on our website.

Through all these stages, if there is one thing to remember, it is that we are resolutely committed to improving our business practices to develop in a sustainable way while thinking of the next generations. Basically, it's only natural for a company that is in its fifth generation!
